About

Hey there!

The purpose of this blog is to keep my friends and family up to date with me, my life, and my work during my Peace Corps service in Jamaica. Think of it as my own personal newspaper.

Born and raised in Miami, Florida, I traveled to New York to pursue a degree in English and Creative Writing from Hofstra University. Some of my other interests include riding horses, arts & crafts, and singing in my car. I consider myself a creative individual, an adventurous soul, and someone who is not afraid to speak my mind or stand up for what I believe in.

I joined the Peace Corps because I felt spoiled in my American lifestyle, and wanted to immerse myself in a new culture and way of life, while at the same time being a part of something that was bigger than myself. I believe in doing good and helping others.

The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams. -Eleanor Roosevelt

  1. I will be heading to Jamaica in March 2015. I hope to meet you. Your blog is lovely and very informative. Any advice on what to pack and not pack would be greatly appreciated!

    • Thanks! I’ll be excited to meet you too. As for packing, there’s a facebook group where lots of people ask and answer questions, and VAC also sends out a packing guide to help you. 🙂

      • Well you don’t *have* to. VAC’s packing guide will be emailed to you, and I have no problem answering any questions you have outside of FB. Once I get home, I’m deactivating mine, so I hear you!
